I usually photograph newborn babies in the morning, but it’s the only day this could work for this couple and to top it all we were working against time (newborn photos is best as soon as possible), so we decided to try an afternoon. Well so glad we did, as he was actually a quite good little sleeper.

Here are a very fun idea Daddy had. I really love it and can’t belief we’ve never done something like this before with any babies. I am so blessed that it came to me this last month of photographs in Abu Dhabi.

And another on white, that I posted first on facebook.

And Daddy

And Lastly the whole new family.

I can hardly keep up with the blogs of all the lovely babies. The little girl I met today was just so precious. Still tiny even though she is 20 days old. She was born really early so unfortunately the newborn photoshoot had to wait for a bit. She was quite awake, but I still like what we came away with.

Here she is, wide awake, well maybe those eyes might just fall closed, let’s be quiet!

Here she is with mommy

And Daddy

I love this one of her smiling

Another one of her checking me out.

And lastly the family. I adore how she just connects with Daddy.

I love how alike this whole family looks. They are quite frankly the most family like family I’ve seen in a long while. All blonde as can be and Dad even mentioned that baby brother looks exactly like big brother did when he was a baby.

Big brother is one very energetic little boy so if little brother takes after him, Mommy is soon going to be able to run marathons for fun:) For now though he is a super good lseeper.

I absolutely love babies in cocoons and this cocoon has been a favourite of mine. He looks so peaceful.

I wear a blue hat cause I’m a boy, now let me chill.

Aren’t they just such a lovely family. All in awe of their newest member.

I placed this before on facebook. He is puckering up. When I see this image I want to lean closer to feel those sweet baby kisses on my cheek:) Maybe I’m just a softy in my old age, but I really really love newborn abbies and I can cuddle them all day long.

With Mommy

And Daddy. Isn’t this cute!

And lastly just chilling in the beanbag. Babies love that thing!

Here is the beautiful little boy.

We all adored this expression:) He was a coccon lover and everytime I would take hiom out of one he would complain – loudly.

And the family

Lastly some orange and yellow and little tiny boy!

We had a lovely family session on Saturday. Here is a one image sneak peek. I love what we came away with, working on the edits now and can’t get enough of how gorgeous the two children looks, stunning.

I just realised it’s been ages since I posted anything on the blog. I communicate so much on facebook that it feels like I came on here yesterday:)  I am still not used to a year starting in September yet to me it feels like a new year since schools and everything start over again. Perfect time then also to reflect on how things are done, how to connect to my clients and fellow photogs.

This year I will be doing private lessons, one on one basis as there have just been too much requests for it. Since time is an issue it will take shape like a booking of a regular session time frame. To those waiting on your information packs they are almost done and will reach you next week. The Eid holiday’s threw out my schedule a tiny bit. To anyone else interested let me know, brunilda@brunilda.me.

So with that I’d like to share a family session I did in South Africa. This was taken at the botanical gardens. The garden is lush even though it was the middle of winter (yep it was hot enough this year for short sleeves). The grass is a tiny bit brown but I love it. I can’t wait to try the parks here when it gets a little bit cooler.

I love this family they were so much fun. A while back my mom told me there was a lady that recognised me as someone she worked with. Turns out it was this lovely lady and I recognised her face too, although I must confess I didnt get to the name right away (I think in pictures, was always handy in my job as auditor, but that is a whole other story). Anyway a million years later, after Price Waterhouse Coopers we met up again and this time I got to take pictures of her fabulous family.

It was fun walking around with them and explaining to the kids why I want to take pictures in a certain location, about light etc. I had a young photography enthusiast so it made it extra fun.

This year web blog posts will be done after the session, all edits and the order has been finalised so I get to share a lot and dont have to place a big logo on there. Here is a collage of our day:

Two babies in the studio, what could be more fun. These two were adorable and it was super cute to see G always reaching for his brother’s hand. Your web gallery with edited and rough edits will be forwarded to you today. Once I get back I will get the edits of the rest you’ve chosen done for you.

Aren’t they they adorable

This tiny baby was due yesterday! When I saw her parents for their maternity mini session ( a gift form their friends) they mentioned that she is due the day before I leave and we all started hoping she would arrive in time to be able to have her session. Luckily she came on the 29th so I was able to have her session. I’ve edited several images as sneak peek, the rest of the images will be rough edits in your web gallery and once I get back I’ll finalise all the edits on the images you chose.

This pose was requested by her parents, adorable.

I apologise for some short blog posts. You might recognise these boys as they were part of another family session a while ago. For this session they were the focus and they were super cute! I finalised your proofbook and shipped it out to your uk address, hopefully you will have it soon.

Here is a cute one of the baby of the house

We were so blessed to have two adorable boys come visit today. We were able to get those quintessential naked baby pictures, brothers being silly, cuddling mummy and just loads of adorable pictures.  For this session, since we most probably won’t have the proof book ready before we leave I’ll put up a web gallery and send you your proof book to the UK.

Here is a sneak collage, enjoy.

This session was planned long before it happened. We had a planning meeting, I got to see her fabulous paper craft and we started thinking of things to do for the session. I love research and searching through the internet and loved the preparation almost as much as the actual shoot. I remember sitting nights on end on pinterest, doing internet searches, I had some ideas and wanted to find some inspiration that will meet my ideas. I gave her such a long list of things to try to bring.

At long last the day arrived and she came with loads of stuff. Fun! We took some pictures with a natural feel (opened the glass doors) but since its very hot out there, those are not so much. Then we went on to hi key photos, then fun props. Background changes to black and vintage and even one of my favourite Denny’s backgrounds. We added some hats, and scarves. It was hard work as we tried to have different expressions, different ideas for the photos. Very happy with what we came away with.

Here are a few photos in a quick collage:

And here is the video sneak peek. It’s a sneak of about half the images.

Variety session – Abu Dhabi Portrait Photography from Brunilda Monnig Roode on Vimeo.

What a fun custom session this was. We planned as much variety from expressions, to posing to background and lighting. The video has only half of the images, there are just as much not even shown yet:)

For this session we did a white session and a black session separately to get the most of the kiddies. They were energetic, they kept me on my toes and they even got me to wear a butterfly fairy headband (for way longer than intended).  After the session the children played in our playroom and almost did not want to go home:) I honestly should do a massive end of year party or something and invite all recent clients’ with small children then they can all get another chance to play with all the fun stuff that they invariably have too little time for:)

You’ll recognise the song for this week’s video sneak peek, it is “Smile” sung by Keegan Smith. It was specifically asked for. Hope you enjoy it.

Here is a few of the session. They are all so photogenic, its amazing.

Enjoy your video sneak peek. I’ll upload your gallery tomorrow as requested and the proof book has already been ordered, if we’re lucky its here before you head out.

Just having fun from Brunilda Monnig Roode on Vimeo.

These three children made me laugh, they had fun, they ran around, all over the studio and I worked for my money, and loved every little bit of it. They are gorgeous, thanks so much for coming!

Every now and then I get a custom made session request, where lots of planning of poses, inspiration for what we will be going for is done, lots of emails or even a planning meeting. I usually suggest booking such a session about 2 months in advance. I absolutely adore these chances to really be as creative as possible and to do research, I love research!

This month I have been blessed to do two such sessions, the first was an Elizabeth Taylor inspired session and this time it was a portraiture session but with a editorial eye to variety from black and white work in studio to patterned backgrounds, we even used scarves, hats and even opened the glass doors for a few minutes at a time to get some of the outside nature.

Here is a super mini sneak peek of only 3 images. There is about 60 ir maybe even more for this particular session, I will let you know as soon as your preview video is ready.

The first is my favorite. Cuddle up its cold out there!

To make sure we weren’t too cold we braved and open door, withint 3 minutes or maybe even less we were so hot and the room started getting wet so immediately we closed up again. Who knew it was so humid already?

Last one for the sneak peek is so ladylike and I just love it! I really wish I could rock red lipstick like this gorgeous lady.
