How wonderful to be back in South Africa, in the beautiful Pretoria. We have started to settle back in and are already enjoying the absolute fabulous nature around, the friendly people. Thanks to everyone for making us feel so welcome.
We’ve been away for 8 years, so we are still learning how things have changed and how things work, but we are getting there. Well we’ve got our internet now and DSTV, the kids are in school and we know where all the building supply shops are around us, so we are all set! We’ll have to find Architects etc in the next few months (studio renovations), some more builders and so on. A busy and exciting time forward.
I will be taking sessions from March 2012. If you are interested please mail me at brunilda@brunilda.me. For a while packages will be digitally based with the option to add additional products later on. I need to work out which print labs would work best for me. I usually test everything from prints to canvas with my own family’s prints until I am 100% satisfied before I offer that product.
At the moment, the studio is not ready but I will be able to travel my studio in the interim, with careful planning I could bring the studio to you. Mostly sessions will be outside in my own garden or the bird sanctuary right next to my house.
I can’t wait to meet new clients and to make you feel like part of my family. Photos are so amazing to record our families as they grow and change. We’ll capture feelings and not just take a picture. Together we’ll create art work. Be it eventually for your walls, a lovely album or just for sharing digitally.
So without further ado, let’s get down to some prizes! I held a competition for some free sessions. At first I thought I’d do only one session and then I decided to give a little more. Everyone that entered will get R250 credit toward future sessions (this is for additional sessions to the ones given away). To claim this all you need to do is hang onto the email you sent me for the competition entry and when it gets time for you to book a session, forward or attach that email to me with your request for a session. Your competition email becomes your gift voucher for R250.
Sessions must be taken between 1 March and 31 August 2012. The R250 credit can be used once only on any regular type of session you would like, for example baby session, family session, maternity or newborn. (not on mini sessions). Remember to book well in advance of time to make sure you don’t loose out because my session slots have all been booked out.
Then we have 3 mini sessions to give away! These sessions are from 15-30 minutes and you’ll see from 8 images onwards in an online gallery. Once you receive your rough edited gallery you choose which images I should artfully edit for you. For this competition you are entitled to 8 edited images digitally on a CD. I add a print release on the CD so you will be able to print anywhere and images are of the highest quality and resolution to print in any size you’d like. The CD will also have a free of charge conversion for each images into black and white, sepia, chocolate and vintage of each image.

And finally but definitely not least is the main winner! A full session, lasting between 60-90 minutes and we can do up to 3-4 outfit changes (if baby allows). From 25 onward images will be placed in a rough edit online gallery for you to choose from. I will then artfully edit the images you chose. For this competition you are entitled to 30 edited images digitally on a CD. Important info regarding claiming your session:
Please contact me with your suggested timing at least 2 weeks ahead of time. For a week-end session its better to book a month or more in advance. Please do not wait till the last week in August to book your free session as I might not have any more slots available and you could loose out on your session. These prizes are not redeemable for cash and are not exchangeable or transferable.
If you have specific ideas for your session please sort this out with me at least 2weeks to 1 month in advance. To wait a day before the session to request a specific theme or idea, might mean it will not be able to arrange.
I can’t wait to give you lasting memories of your family too! Here is some of my family. Everyone on this picture is part of my family. My two daughters, their grandparents and their cousin. I wish I could already get into my archives to have shown you how my daughters grew up in front of the camera, but for now this will do to introduce ourselves to you.

First of all, thank you so much for joining my Facebook page, your support is much appreciated. I have promised a giveaway when we reached 2000 and we are well and truly above that now so I thought a giveaway is well due. It took me a few days to get the give away ready since I wanted to make sure I go by Facebook’s rule regarding give aways.
As such I am driving this give away through my blog, rather than the fan page itself. Please read the guidelines and rules of this give away below to make sure you are not disqualified.

- A 60-90 minute on-location (or studio if you so prefer) photo session, where 30-40 images will be professionally edited and presented to you in a colour proofbook, yours to keep.
- You will be allowed up to 3 clothing changes in that time.
- This free session may not be a newborn session, but may be held over for a later baby session when baby is for e.g. 3 or 6 months. (6 month sessions is a favourite of mine also). If the winner is a pregnant mommy I might surprise them with a super special maternity/ newborn package though, really would depend on timing:)
- UAE entrants – sessions have to take place in Abu Dhabi area, and you will receive a credit of Dhs 2000 to spend on prints/ canvas or whatever product you can think of. Of course you have the option to order additional items, but the first Dhs 2000 is free!
- South African entrants – sessions have to take place between 11 July and 22 August 2011 in Pretoria area. You will get a 60 minute outside session free plus a web gallery of your edited images once I return to Abu Dhabi + 30 chosen images as downloads , links will be sent to you via email. Unfortunately no prints or proofbook.

Next week the holy month of Ramadan will start. The holy month is to make peace with those that have wronged us. This is the time to bond closer with family and friends. Do away with evil thoughts, bad habits.
Living in a Muslim country we have come to respect this holy month. Although we are not Muslim, every year I do get a sense that we too move closer to each other during the holy month. It’s become a month to reflect on the year past and to think of others.
Last year there were drives to donate to the lesser fortunate and I hope I see that happening again this year. It was easy to give.
Since Muslims fast from sun up to sun down during this month, adults here also refrain from eating and drinking (or smoking in public), showing our respect and support for others. Here and there one would see a tourist unawares, but hopefully someone will let them know to rather keep that private. Not going out and rather staying in more also lets you move closer to friends and family. Its summer this Ramadan so there will be many play dates in friends’ houses rather than an impersonal mall.
I’ve decided to give a little as a Ramadan special. To anyone that book sessions and have the sessions in Ramadan I will design a Eid Muburak card free of charge. You are welcome then to distribute this card electronically or order a set of cards to distribute. To get cards printed and ready for distribution at Eid, your session must take place before 15th August. For electronic cards the sessions could be held any time up to 2nd September (just to give me a little design time).
All regular sessions booked and paid for during the month of Ramadan will get a 20% discount on current pricing. If you order within this month too, you will get 20% discount on any items ordered over and above your credits and this old pricing is applicable.
For mini sessions, a 20% discount on products will be applied once a print minimum of Dhs500 has been reached.
I am in Abu Dhabi the whole Ramadan and available for sessions at the studio, either in the mornings or late afternoons during the week(Sunday to Thursday) and Saturdays. If you request a session at your home or during the evening, just contact me to arrange the details.
If you book and pay during this month you will still receive the initial 20% discount even if you decide to postpone the session date till after Eid. Regular pricing will then be in place when you order.

Our one year birthday is upon us! It’s been a wonderful year with a many wonderful clients. There were so many newborn sessions, toddler sessions, family session and of course maternity session. So much fun! To say thank you for all my wonderful clients I am giving them an oppurtunity to get a 20inch by 24 inch canvas as gift from me. Because, well it’s our birthday and we want to give gifts!
It’s not my own personal birthday. That comes in December and boy will there be fun to be had too since its going to be my 40th this year.
So far only 3 clients sent in their choices. Even if its only them the canvas will still be handed out! So come on, send in your canvas choices. And friends – get voting!
