First of all, thank you so much for joining my Facebook page, your support is much appreciated. I have promised a giveaway when we reached 2000 and we are well and truly above that now so I thought a giveaway is well due. It took me a few days to get the give away ready since I wanted to make sure I go by Facebook’s rule regarding give aways.
As such I am driving this give away through my blog, rather than the fan page itself. Please read the guidelines and rules of this give away below to make sure you are not disqualified.
What is the prize? Let’s talk giveaway!
- There has to be at least 200 total entry points for the final prize to be appointed so get all your friends to also come join in the give away! If there hasn’t been enough entries by the 3rd July I will decide what booby prizes if any there will be.
- Everyone that enters will get a 10% discount on print orders for their next session. The only provision is that the sessions be booked on line BEFORE 25 August 2011. If you cannot get any space by then, please contact me no later than 25 August (via email, since I am going to be out of the country) so I can book you into 2012 for you to retain your discount. For South African entrants, please make sure you book ASAP mention that you entered and make sure you get a day while I am in South Africa. I don’t plan returning to South Africa necessarily in the next year, so you might loose out otherwise.
- The winner, chosen randomly only from comments left on this blog will get:
- A custom planned session, where we plan your session specifically towards what would suit you best.
- A 60-90 minute on-location (or studio if you so prefer) photo session, where 30-40 images will be professionally edited and presented to you in a colour proofbook, yours to keep.
- You will be allowed up to 3 clothing changes in that time.
- This free session may not be a newborn session, but may be held over for a later baby session when baby is for e.g. 3 or 6 months. (6 month sessions is a favourite of mine also). If the winner is a pregnant mommy I might surprise them with a super special maternity/ newborn package though, really would depend on timing:)
- UAE entrants – sessions have to take place in Abu Dhabi area, and you will receive a credit of Dhs 2000 to spend on prints/ canvas or whatever product you can think of. Of course you have the option to order additional items, but the first Dhs 2000 is free!
- South African entrants – sessions have to take place between 11 July and 22 August 2011 in Pretoria area. You will get a 60 minute outside session free plus a web gallery of your edited images once I return to Abu Dhabi + 30 chosen images as downloads , links will be sent to you via email. Unfortunately no prints or proofbook.

We were so blessed to have two adorable boys come visit today. We were able to get those quintessential naked baby pictures, brothers being silly, cuddling mummy and just loads of adorable pictures. For this session, since we most probably won’t have the proof book ready before we leave I’ll put up a web gallery and send you your proof book to the UK.

This session was planned long before it happened. We had a planning meeting, I got to see her fabulous paper craft and we started thinking of things to do for the session. I love research and searching through the internet and loved the preparation almost as much as the actual shoot. I remember sitting nights on end on pinterest, doing internet searches, I had some ideas and wanted to find some inspiration that will meet my ideas. I gave her such a long list of things to try to bring.
At long last the day arrived and she came with loads of stuff. Fun! We took some pictures with a natural feel (opened the glass doors) but since its very hot out there, those are not so much. Then we went on to hi key photos, then fun props. Background changes to black and vintage and even one of my favourite Denny’s backgrounds. We added some hats, and scarves. It was hard work as we tried to have different expressions, different ideas for the photos. Very happy with what we came away with.

What a fun custom session this was. We planned as much variety from expressions, to posing to background and lighting. The video has only half of the images, there are just as much not even shown yet:)

For this session we did a white session and a black session separately to get the most of the kiddies. They were energetic, they kept me on my toes and they even got me to wear a butterfly fairy headband (for way longer than intended). After the session the children played in our playroom and almost did not want to go home:) I honestly should do a massive end of year party or something and invite all recent clients’ with small children then they can all get another chance to play with all the fun stuff that they invariably have too little time for:)
You’ll recognise the song for this week’s video sneak peek, it is “Smile” sung by Keegan Smith. It was specifically asked for. Hope you enjoy it.

For summer I am returning to South Africa for a long vacation. Except for a few mid vacation trips I should be in Pretoria mostly. Sessions will all be offered outside, last from about 60-90 minutes and about 30-40 photos will be edited to choose from. If you were looking for a newborn session, please contact me as I would probably have to visit your chosen location/ house to look into the lighting situation before finalising your booking.
When I return to Abu Dhabi I will do all the editing and place your images in a private on-line gallery for you to choose from.
Session packages includes either 20/30 or all photos as digital images. These will be sent to you via download link once you have made your choice. I will gladly convert any image to either black and white, sepia, chocolate black and white, vintage, vintage fairy-tale or add texture to make it an art piece.
Packages do not include prints.
Packages range from R1000 up to R2000.

Every now and then I get a custom made session request, where lots of planning of poses, inspiration for what we will be going for is done, lots of emails or even a planning meeting. I usually suggest booking such a session about 2 months in advance. I absolutely adore these chances to really be as creative as possible and to do research, I love research!
This month I have been blessed to do two such sessions, the first was an Elizabeth Taylor inspired session and this time it was a portraiture session but with a editorial eye to variety from black and white work in studio to patterned backgrounds, we even used scarves, hats and even opened the glass doors for a few minutes at a time to get some of the outside nature.
Here is a super mini sneak peek of only 3 images. There is about 60 ir maybe even more for this particular session, I will let you know as soon as your preview video is ready.
The first is my favorite. Cuddle up its cold out there!
To make sure we weren’t too cold we braved and open door, withint 3 minutes or maybe even less we were so hot and the room started getting wet so immediately we closed up again. Who knew it was so humid already?
Last one for the sneak peek is so ladylike and I just love it! I really wish I could rock red lipstick like this gorgeous lady.

I’m very glad to be sharing this session. I recently got a tree stump in studio and I couldn’t wait for a little boy to sit on it:) And who better than this gorgeous little one. The session was short, but I love what we came away with. Hope you enjoy. Your proof book should be here soon, will let you know as soon as I get it.

We had so little time for this session and I will for sure repeat another session in September. It still was fun to see the girls enjoying themselves, doing cartwheels and running around. Miss I looks she alone is going to keep Mom in tip-top shape for a long time to come.
As most of you know I am not really a morning person so we opted for an afternoon session to try to deal with the heat. We would probably have had a little more time if we did the session at 6am and maybe next time I have a family session during summer I will do that, maybe stop by Starbucks on the way though:) I adore the golden colours of sunset best though so this was perfect.

A week ago I had two absolutely beautiful girls in studio. Since they are older we planned what to do together and that was a lovely experience. (sosorry the video on vimeo appears a bit washed out, the colours are so much more vibrant) – just wait for your proofbook!
