Every year hundreds of photographers endeavour to “give back”  in the way they best know how. By giving their photography services to someone that may not be able to afford it, have not even thought of it before.

Last year I was out of the country during December and thought it would be too difficult to arrange something, but this year I am here and would love to give too. And all of you get to help me choose who to give to, by nominating someone you feel is deserving.

If you know of someone that have fallen on hard times, someone that has gone through a tragedy, someone dealing with such hardships be it difficult situations, difficult emotions then nominate them. It might be someone that is struggling financially, or it might be someone that has to rethink their whole family unit after the death of a parent, or it might even be someoene struggling to keep their family and fincances together because they might be working more than one job. Whatever it is, let me know.

If you know someone that can’t afford my custom portrait photography, but would appreciate it as a present this holiday season, then please participate.

I  know everyone knows someone like this. Please send me information about your nominee. I will need to know why you feel they qualify, what this person means to you, are you related? I would love to share some goodies with them. The one family/ person chosen will receive a free portrait session, a jumbo print of every photo, a slideshow on DVD of their session to watch anytime they wish, and either an 8×8 session book or an 11×14 canvas. Value of the gift at least  Dhs 2700.

The person that nominated the winner will be receiving a Dhs 500 gift certificate to use as they see fit. Keep it to use against future sessions, purchase products from previous sessions, or even gift it to someone that might be able to use it. (it may not be sold and is not exchangeable for cash in any way)

So, let’s start. Here are the rules:

  1. Do NOT nominate yourself, or a direct family member.
  2. The nominated party may not have had a custom photography session within the last year and must genuinely not be able to afford it for themselves right now. If they just had a ski holiday in a luxurious resort then they are probably not the right candidates.
  3. The nominee must be a resident within Abu Dhabi Emirate. The session will take place within Abu Dhabi city, close surrounds, so if they are further out they have to be able to get to Abu Dhabi on there own accord. This would mostly not be possible for everyone so I would ask you, that if you nominate someone further out, to take it upon yourself to bring them to the Abu Dhabi city.
  4. It might be a good idea to clear it with the relevant party that a selection of their pictures will be shared on the blog. I will never mention names or surnames on my blog. How much or how little of their story becomes public will be their decision, I will not publish anything about their stories without their knowledge or permission. I will be getting a private group of women photographers to help me with my decision and will be sharing the stories with them however (again never revealing names).
  5. Send me both their and your contact details, email and phone contacts. Tell me their full story. You can present it any way you feel, electronically, be it a letter, video, pictures added or whatever your heart feels.
  6. Comment on this post that you have sent a message (please I ask that no-one share any personal details, personal stories, names or surnames in the comments on the blog) and then send a message to my mail address entitled “GIA – 2011″. brunilda@brunilda.me
  7. Latest date for nominations is 31 December 2010. Only nominations sent via mail will be included in the decision.
  8. I will then choose the 5 most deserving (in my eyes) stories and ask a private group of professional women photographers to help me decide the outcome. The winner will be anounced 8 January 2011.
  9. The family should be able  to make use of the session between March 2011 and December 2011.

Can’t wait to hear about your nominations, let’s start giving…
