I had the pleasure to photograph this beautiful family while they await their second daughter.  Let’s hope she waits for 5 more weeks (or at least 4)!  We can’t wait to meet her and will be counting the days untill you return.

There were so many pictures to choose from that I just could not decide which 2 to include in the sneak peek, therefore I chose 4. You’ll have loads in your gallery and a few fun ones with little E too.

Thank you for having me in your home!

Here’s the first, can’t believe how cute is baby girl in this pic:

Isn’t she beautiful, I wish I looked this good when I was pregnant:

Dad, and big sister both helped during the pictures, I loved our session, fun, relaxing and couldnt believe time went so fast.

Here big sis helped to measure mommy’s tummy. I do have a picture where you can clearly read the measurement, but that one I save for your gallery, your secret.

Facebook Friends Promotion:

As part of my start up season I will be having some interesting promotions going on. One of these is that this month I randomly selected 3 friends to receive sessions at no session fee, as portfolio build shoots!  I just selected the 3 friends, and your invites are on the way!  Next month, I will select 2, and from there on 1 per month.

Should anyone want to get on the facebook list, why not join my facebook fan page:

Newborn Portfoliobuild sessions:

Congratulations on the impending birth of your baby! Any child is so precious and you are going to enjoy parenthood so much.  I honestly can’t see how anyone can’t enjoy it, even if you might have a difficult child. They give you so much love (sometimes in between naughty spells) and even one little smile can brighten up your whole day.

I would like to add some new faces and new photos to my portfolio specifically focused on newborns.  The first 3 parents to respond and book a session for their newborn or book a zero to year session package will receive the newborn session part free.

Newborn pictures should preferably be taken within the first 10 days of life while the baby is still very bendy and flexible. Its also the time the baby is still sleepy and therefore one can get the beauty of the newborn captured forever. They change in an eyeblink and then that stage is forever gone.

Free gifts:

For all sessions as you reach the spending requirements and different spenditure limits, you will receive free gifts as part of your order. Some examples are a bound proof book of all images, for newborns the announcement cards etc.

Abu Dhabi Mum Discounts:

All members of Abu Dhabi Mums will receive a 10% discount on any session fee or package price. You will also receive 2 free 5″ x 7″ prints from your session. Keep your membership cards ready when you book your session.

Yesterday two exceptional ladies and their adorable girls came to visit all the way from Dubai. To us it was special to have all the older girls together as they grew up together. Since we moved to Abu Dhabi 2.5 years ago unfortunately we don’t get to see each other enough. In fact Bianca and the one other girl were born in the same hospital on the same day. Bianca being the youngest since she took her sweet time!

I got this picture of the three together, which will at least be blown up as a block print for Bianca’s room. There will be various edits of this picture to choose from, this being the black and white.

This is only part of the sneak peek as I am in between other editing but couldn’t resist showing you this photo. For everyone else waiting on their galleries, be assured I am right on target and if I haven’t done so already, you should be contacted soon with your password.

I loved meeting Iola again.  The first time we met was when Erika was all of 2 weeks old.  Both grew so much. Iola is such a pretty and friendly little girl and I just love her blonde hair with a touch of strawberry in it!  With such a friendly mommy what girl would not be friendly:)

Although it was difficult getting her to remain in one spot for more than 2 seconds we tried our best.  She spinned, she played with jewelery (as any girl should) and the windows were really attractive too…  I loved every minute of it and I do hope she had a nap or an early night afterward as she looked quite tuckered out at the end of our session poor thing.

Here is your sneak peek, enjoy!

Yesterday three lovely sisters came to visit.  The little one enjoyed our “toyhouse” so much she didn’t want to leave.  We promised to have her come play again, maybe when Erika is awake and Bianca is at home!

Three sisters so different yet obviously so much in love with each other.  One a natural model, couldn’t wait to pose.  So much fun.  One reserved and very attractive and the little one, oy vay!  She was very shy of the camera.  But after countless games and yet again my trusted friend Barney’s songs we got some smiles.

Here is your sneak peek, enjoy!

Another tip today, is to try to get some Bokeh if you really don’t have any good backgrounds going around.  What is bokeh you ask?

Bokeh is the term when the “background” goes out of focus.  It is a Japanese word and has nothing to do with “bouquet”.  It creates a haziness and there is your lovely background in itself.  No need for a material background.

Unfortunately a low F stop lens will be needed to create this kind of effect and opening up too wide makes it also difficult since too close a depth of field could cause you to have a lovely in focus eye and out of focus tip of the nose. So pay close attention.

This was the first test run for my new 85 mm lens 1.8F .  This photo was taken in our playroom.  Erika was amongst all the toys, playing with her mobile phone talking with grandma.  Those shots were unfortunately ruined as the depth of field was too shallow, but this one survived.  I love how the bokeh created a background where there was chaos around her.

A few of my friends that have gotten into photography are bemoaning the fact that now that they have switched to manual settings or use DSLR cameras they never seem to enjoy taking photo’s anymore.  They miss the snapshot moments.

I tend to still take lots of snapshots.  Granted mostly with my little point and shoot since my Canon Ixus is always handy for those quick videos of Erika if I just have to catch a moment.  Recently though I bundled the girls into the bedroom and snapped away.  Little Erika loved playing on our mattress.  She would sit upright for two seconds clapping and then would dive down and peer out at me again.

It’s moments like these that one need to capture and not bother that there aren’t the perfect backdrops ready. Play with the children, and just enjoy the children.  Afterwards go and see if there is anything that a clone brush could make into something special.

With these, I took out some light fittings, and used an extra special action from On The Spot studios called “Babysoft” which made the photos look soft and dreamy.

The first would not have been a good portrait shot since Bianca was out of the shot.  For a snapshot I love it since she “looks in” on her sister. It makes it a special family time and bonding time, even if it was cut in half so to speak.

The second shot is where they had so much fun clapping along. They are at different distances from me so Erika is more in focus than Bianca. The interaction between the two makes the shot.

Enjoy your snapshots, and remember to keep shooting!

I am so busy its not even funny. I am catching up with all the editing and just registered as customer with an overseas printer, getting ready my 5 test prints as well. I hope to be able to give my clients the option of printing locally or going overseas as they have so many choices and with Aramex’s fast delivery I can just as easily consider printing in USA.

In view of wanting to have some of Bianca to send in as test prints I cajoled, begged and went on bent knees to get her to please let me take pictures of her. After a solid half hour of begging, my princess agreed.

She had to have every neckless we could find on, and in the end, this is a half decent result:

Other things in the pipeline are my flyers to go up soon, business cards and also a new fun thing for moms, watch this space!

On Thursday my lights, my background stands and backdrops and all the rest were delivered by Aramex. It felt like Christmas. I was so excited when the sms came, yet less so when the box was delivered because it was so well boxed up I could not believe that everything that I ordered could fit in there.

I started unpacking but it just kept coming, like a bottomless box. I kept unpacking, setting up. In the end there was a background stand with three different backgrounds to choose from, the two studio lights, soft boxes, large reflector.

We had cleared the room beforehand and I had noticed the curtains created a glow so I had removed them. The natural light made the room so light I didn’t even need the lights for the photo shoot when I decided to have an imprompto photo shoot with Erika. I had bought a tiny balerina dress up suit and also a red dress and both had to be tested immediately.

Here is the result:

Well as I mentioned yesterday I visited my best friend that is blessed to be pregnant with her second girl.  She is built so small it was sometimes difficult to try to make it clear on the pictures that she was in fact 31 weeks pregnant.  She kept telling me she felt huge but to me she looks dainty and lovely, blossoming.

It wasn’t difficult at all to make her look lovely, that came naturally, we just had to think of ways to enhance the belly!

So here is a sneak peek or two:

I noticed today my little one, little Erika figured out how to say “Hello”.  We played a game some time ago rolling our tongues in and out our  mouths making all kinds of different sounds and today she figured out it makes the sounds of “Hello, hello”. Now whenever I say it to her she repeats it back. At the same time she realised how to perfectly do the “ding dong” of Bianca’s pink plastic play house.  Oh the joys, to see her learning new things, she is such a friendly little girl, and luckily now getting over her cold.

I also experienced new things today, my first maternity session.  Finished editing a few and will post a sneak peek soon! It was so much fun to try to get photos where the belly looked the biggest. Where ladies does it ever happen that we want to have pictures where our bellies are the biggest?  Truly a blessed time of our lives:)

The site went live with the help of the amazing customer care of Portfoliositez. Without their help I don’t know how I would have done it. At the same time I also updated my blog layout to their Andy theme.

As a celebration and because Erika is having such a bad time at present going through her first real summer cold I thought we should post a picture of her.

I secured my website name, yet I am still struggling to make it work. I am not the technical genius I thought. The site is built (the text sections not all written yet, but some pictures are up) and waiting for the domain to go live.

So watch this space…
